As promised last year, I have returned to Bergen, Norway by mid June 2026 to continue my bike tour towards the Lofoten along the west coast of Norway. Luckily I was granted enough vacation days to extend the tour past the Lofoten. I kept cycling until I reached the famous Nordkapp (North Cape). My return route was a 950 km ride from Nordkapp to Oulu, Finland. From Oulu, I took the train to Helsinki and a ferry from Helsinki to Travemünde, Germany. The whole journey took me 46 days from departure until arrival in Braunschweig. I cycled from Bergen to Oulu via Nordkapp a total of ~3800 km in 39 days.

My arrival at the Nordkapp Globe after cycling for 30 days by bike and tent. A distance of 2800 km was covered from Bergen to Nordkapp along the west coast of Norway. I took a total amount of 25 ferries to cross the fjords along the Cycling Route No. 1.

It was an amazing and adventurous bike tour. I’ve seen beautiful and amazing places, I met many nice and interesting people on the road and I kept my own schedule, which included 25 ferries to cross the numerous fjords. Everything was written down in a bicycle touring journal at https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/dh7dn_norway2026 so please check it out for detailed reports and amazing pictures of my bike tour in Norway and Finland (I’ve uploaded over 1200 pics there!).

I doubt there will be such a long and extensive bike tour in the near future again but I do plan to return back to the Scandinavian countries next year.
